FAQs

How many steps should I have in my skincare routine?

Skincare is personal, so we would suggest as many steps as you are comfortable with, but don't feel the need to overcomplicate your routine. Keep things simple - your skincare routine should be the most relaxing part of the day. Your routine is your 'me time' - it's all about self-care, so it shouldn't become a burden.

Should I patch test products I haven't used before?

Patch testing is recommended when you use any new beauty or skincare products, especially if you know your skin is sensitive and tends to react to different ingredients.

Are DR. THIESS products safe when you're pregnant?

Yes, all of our skincare products have been tested and are permitted for use during pregnancy.

How do I know which products are best for my skin?

Our skin communicates with us. It gives us signals and we have to observe it in order to give it what it needs.  Look at your skin and ask yourself what you would like to improve - that's the starting point to understanding what it needs. The other key element is knowing your skin type.

How do I find out my skin type?

Double wash your face and wait for a few hours. If your face is oily all over after that time period then your skin type is broadly classified as 'oily' (which has the advantage of ageing more slowly). If your skin is dry after a couple of hours, you have dry skin (which has the advantage of not looking shiny). If your skin is only oily in the T-zone area (your forehead and nose), you have combination skin. Of course, there is also a 'normal' skin type, but that accounts for a tiny percentage of the world's population. It's important to continue observing your skin over time because it can change depending on the season, during periods of stress and during periods of relaxation.

Which skincare products are best for anti-ageing?

The ageing process starts in your twenties when the production of collagen in the skin starts to decrease. Therefore, we would recommend a mix between the DR. THIESS Radiance regimen and the Hydration regimen.

Which skincare products are best for dry skin?

Dry skin results from a lack of hydration in the skin, which can exacerbate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time. For dry skin, we therefore recommend our Hydration collection of skincare products.

Which skincare products are best for sensitive skin?

All of our products are gentle on skin, but it's always recommended that you patch test before use just in case there's a particular ingredient that your skin doesn't agree with. We also recommend introducing new products to your routine one by one so if you do have any reactions, you know immediately which one is causing the problem.

How do I look after my skincare products?

You should keep your skincare products in a cool, dry location and you should always reseal them between uses. We don't recommend keeping them for more than six months and in an ideal world we recommend keeping creams in the fridge, although this isn't 100% necessary.

What are the most important parts of a skincare routine?

Double cleansing. Apply your skincare two hours before going to bed, gently warm the product before applying it. Keep your skincare products in the fridge. Hydration.

What are the most important parts of a skincare routine?

Double cleansing is an essential part of the skincare routine. We also recommend doing your skincare routine two hours before going to bed. Gently warm the products before applying them to the skin and ideally keep your skincare products in the fridge. Staying hydrated is also essential for good skin care.

Do your products have SPF?

No they don't. It is recommended that you use an SPF however as part of your daytime skincare routine.

Are DR. THIESS products tested on animals?

No. At DR. THIESS we are extremely aware of where our skincare ingredients come, and the ethics and environmental impact of the ingredients and production process on the planet. Therefore we do not test our products on animals, we are mindful of our impact on the water supply and we proactively seek to minimise single-use materials in our packaging.

Are DR. THIESS products vegan?

No. While our products are made using all natural ingredients, and are suitable for vegetarians, they are not classified as vegan.
